I am a NY state Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of direct clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. Over the years, I have enjoyed helping children, teens and families learn how to better cope with many issues and transitions including behavioral difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, academic and social challenges in school, self harming behaviors, parental separation, teenage identity, and general parenting challenges.
I graduated from Brown University Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Education and Psychology. I then spent several years working at a Child and Adolescent Day Hospital, where I facilitated groups for youth utilizing various modalities, including art therapy, social skills training, and anger management training.
I went on to earn a doctoral degree in School-Clinical Child Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. My predoctoral clinical training involved working with youth and families at Great Neck South Middle School, St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, and Kings County Hospital.
Upon my graduation with a Psy.D. in 2005, I went on to pursue advanced clinical training and completed an APA accredited postdoctoral fellowship in Child Psychology at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where I received specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused CBT, CBT for Anxiety Disorders, CBT for Depression, and other Evidence Based Treatments for children and adolescents.
From 2006-2015 I worked as a Psychologist in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Department at Kings County Hospital where I worked with youth ages 4-21 and their families conducting psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluations, and crisis intervention. I provided clinical supervision and instruction to psychology and psychiatry trainees and also taught a seminar on DBT and other evidence based treatments for children and adolescents. I am particularly interested in how to implement such treatment with clients across different settings and cultures. I have also worked as a DBT skills group leader and individual therapist at the Center for Cognitive and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. As an adjunct professor at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, I have taught an advanced seminar on Integrating Multiculturalism into Clinical Practice.
In addition to my private practice, I work as the Lower School Psychologist and All School Wellbeing Coordinator at a NYC Independent School.
I live with my multi-ethnic family in Brooklyn and enjoy dancing, yoga, and cooking. I believe strongly in the mind-body connection and keep this in mind throughout my work.
